The steam engine and how it revolutionized both industry and society?

I am writing an argumentative essay about the steam engine. My thesis statement is as follows. The introduction of the steam engine brought about significant and progressive changes in both industry and society, the impact of which can still be felt today. I need three statements that argue against my thesis and three that are in favor of my thesis. I am having trouble doing this. I keep diving more into the history part of it and my professor wants an argumentative paper not a historical paper. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
