THE WORLDS LAST SHEDULED STEAM PASSENGER IS SEEN BEING THRASHED UP THE HILLS AT BAIYIN. CHINA. 2011


SY Locomotives still take the daily passenger trains up the mountain pass at Baiyin in China. The Trains take the workers to the zinc and copper smelters that are situated up in the hills . The steam locos can provide steam heating for the passenger coaches , all that luxury of steam hauled travel and would you believe its all FREE. If you also ask nicely they will take you up the pass on the footplate . this is filmed at the crossing at Liugolni in March 2011

Are there still any steam locomotives somewhere in the world still being used for shippping cargo?

I heard China still used Steam Locomotives in some areas in the earlier decade, are there still any areas still using them.

RCH 1116 017-3 “Taurus” being pulled on the turntable


The “Taurus” 1116 017-3 of the Rail Cargo Hungaria (RCH) is being pulled on the turntable by the vintage steam engine ’27’ of the Budapest Suburban Railway (BHÉV) during the 10th anniversary of the Hungarian Railway History Park on July 11, 2010.

A replica of an 1879 locomotive that served passengers in Suffolk for half a century is being built in Southwold and each component can be sponsored – from the whistle to a 2ft 6in driving wheel.

Where can I go, in the UK, to see classic diesel trains being driven?

The seven valley railway website only has pictures of steam trains and I’m not too interested in them.

I live in the west midlands near birmingham / coventry.
