How can I get ovaltine chocolate milk that has been set into beige carpet overnight… OUT!?!?

Sometime yesterday, my daughter spilled ovaltine chocolate milk onto the light beige carpet in her toy room. (P.S., this is a brand new house that we built last year… Ugh!) Instead of TELLING us, she just left it there, and it wasn’t until this morning that I discovered it. I have tried everything I can think of:

1st: Woolite Oxi Carpet Stain remover (I have used Resolve in the past, and I think this stuff works better)
2nd: The woolite “pod” that they advertise on TV
3rd: Oxiclean
4th: My Hoover steam vac
5th: Borax gently rubbed in with a scrub brush
6th: Grandma’s secret spot remover
7th: My Hoover steam vac again

Any other ideas? The ovaltine makes sort of a pink stain. It looks terrible against the light beige. Please help!!!
P.S. I have since tried salt, tide, dish soap, and spot shot. Nothing has completely worked yet… but it has lightened.

2&1/2 yr old toy poodle using the same spot on the carpet?

Ok so I have a toy poodle and he is taken out regularly but sometimes if we are gone too long or if its over night he will go to the bathroom on the carpet. I guess its not really so much the poop cuz that can easily be picked up but how do I get him to stop peeing in the same area? If it was on tile it wouldn’t be so bad but I have cleaned my living room carpet with a steam cleaner; it doesn’t help & he just does it again anyway. Anyone got any ideas?

How long should you let carpet dry after steam cleaning/shampooing?

I need to deep clean my daughter’s closet. The carpet is medium length plush carpet. It’s not flat carpet but it’s not the real high stuff either. I have a Bissell Proheat 2x that I bought back in May. It uses heated water. How long should I wait before putting her toys and stuff back in the closet?

What Is Steam Carpet Cleaning?

Steam carpet cleaning is one of the most prevalent methods of carpet cleaning. But do you really know what is involved in steam carpet cleaning? If not you should read this brief article before hiring a steam cleaner to clean your homes carpets.

Steam cleaning, also known as hot water extraction is a popular carpet cleaning method for a number of different reasons. From the carpet cleaners point of view it is usually a quick method compared to others enabling them to clean many homes in a single day. From the consumers view it is a very thorough cleaning method since it has the best flushing capability of any of the cleaning methods on the market today. When a steam cleaner comes to your home they will use either a self contained portable carpet cleaning machine or a truck mounted carpet cleaning machine. The portable extractor will normally have one or two high powered electric vacuums and a pressure pump. It will also have a heater or they might depend on hot water from your home. The benefit to portable extractors is that they can go places that truck mounts can not like high rises. The other type of equipment is a truck mounted system where the vacuum, pump and heater are located in the van and powered by the vans engine or a separate engine system. The advantage of truck mounts is that the cleaner only has two bring two hoses into your home and it is capable of much greater vacuum and heat. With either type of equipment the cleaner will first spray a cleaning solution on your carpet and allow it to dwell to absorb soil. They will then extract it using the cleaning machine. They will then groom the carpet with a carpet rake and let the carpet dry. Dry times are usually in the four to eight hour range.

That is all there is to it. As you can see it is a simple process. When looking for a steam cleaner be cautious to choose one that has a good reputation and a good guarantee. After all the most important thing in a good carpet cleaning is a good operator. Good luck.

Carpet Cleaning Services – What You Should Be Expecting

There are still those who believe that in the world of carpet cleaning services, the more expensive ones do the most thorough jobs. They think that because these cleaning services employ the latest technology in carpet cleaning, they are a clear cut above the rest. Some companies offer their services by listing the different gadgets, technologies, and technical names for procedures that they would use just to make their customers think that they are getting the best. And because they are getting the best, they are expected to pay a huge sum of money. However, there are carpet cleaners in Edinburgh (UK) that offer these services that produce the same results at a fraction of the cost.

Like what they always say, the simpler ones are usually the better. This is why some companies simply tell you that the method they are would be using. Some uses a system which is called hot water extraction. Hot water extraction is also known as steam cleaning. Despite the claims of some companies, steam cleaning is still the preferred way of cleaning a carpet. The big carpet manufactures use this system to ensure the cleanliness of their carpets. The majority of those in the carpet cleaning business use hot water extraction as well.

So what exactly is the procedure when one avails of a carpet cleaning service in Edinburgh, UK? Well, first off, you have the evaluation stage. This is the stage where one of the employees is sent to your place to have a look at your carpet. Based on the evaluation, they will be able to determine the exact process youâ??d need to clean your carpet. The next step is the vacuuming process. Before attacking the deeply embedded dirt and grime, they would first remove the loose debris and dust from the carpet, reducing the need to clean them up later in the process. After which, they would prepare and apply the cleaning solution. When they evaluated your carpet earlier, it was also to determine the strength and component of the cleaning solution that is needed. Not all cleaning solution would go well with a given rug. The appropriate cleaning solution is needed in order to make sure that it will not ruin your rug. Once the solution is applied, it is time for the hot water extraction. This treats the deeper part of the carpet, leaving it squeaky clean. If your carpet has stains on certain spots, there is no need to worry. These companies usually do spot treatment as part of the cleaning process. Once these spots are cleaned, they usually go for the second hot water extraction, making sure that nothing was left behind.

The last part is the most important part â?? the checking it out stage. At this stage, you should see if the carpet cleaning service they did is satisfactory. Check for stain spots which they may have left behind. Once you are satisfied, you would have a dry, clean and good-smelling carpet within 6 hours.

Carpet Cleaning – D I Y Steam Cleaning Vs. Professional Steam Cleaning

When it’s time to clean the carpet in the house, we all labor over the do it yourself steam cleaning that you can rent at the store, or hiring a professional. We believe that we can get better results from hiring a professional steam cleaner but that is not always true.

Some carpet cleaning companies have a high turnover of staff. Some carpet cleaning technicians do not have the proper training in using the equipment. They also do not have the proper training in spot removal techniques.

Whether you hire a professional or whether you do it yourself the most important thing to remember is to go slow enough that you remove as much water as you can. If there is too much water left in the carpet, there is a risk that you damage the carpet but the risk to your health is much greater.

If too much water is put into the carpet it goes straight to the under pad. When this happens there is a danger that mould and mildew will form. Due to the sponge like texture of the under pad the the only way it can be properly dried is if it is lifted from the floor and air is able to circulate under the carpet. When mold and mildew start to form that is where the health risks begin.

The EPA recommends that people avoid mold and mildew in their homes, especially if any member of the family has a respiratory illness such as asthma. Mold and mildew can stress the lungs and in people with asthma, it can trigger an asthma attack. In children who don’t have asthma it is possible to distress the lungs and cause illnesses like bronchitis and asthma.

When you are steam cleaning the carpets it is difficult to tell if you are adding too much water. Going over one area of the carpet too many times will put too much moisture into the carpet. Stains can be stubborn to remove and it is the first instinct to add more water and keep trying, but that is not the answer. Professionals do use the steam more on those areas but their success lies in the knowledge of how to use the equipment as well as the selection of professional chemicals they use for stain removal.

Many people when they rent the do it yourself steam cleaners, if also buy the bottle of shampoo to clean the carpets as well. One of the major problems with that is the concentration and strength of that product is not very powerful. The reason it is made weaker is that the manufacturer assumes that consumers will not use it properly, and they do not want to be responsible for you damaging your carpet with their product, so it is diluted. There is not one cleaner that can remove all stains. When you hire a professional carpet cleaner they often show up with an assortment of different bottles and each one has a solution for a different stain one cleaner does not clean all carpets.

It is tempting to save a couple dollars and steam clean the carpets yourself, but the damage that you can cause your carpets could cost you thousands of dollars. Rippling carpets, faded color patches, damaged carpet fibers and worst of all mold, are all common problems people experience when they attempt to steam clean their own carpet. Just remember when you are deciding whether or not to hire professional carpet cleaner, the least expensive way is not always the cheapest!
