Cleaning Advantages of Steam and Vacuum

About ten years ago, the first steam and vacuum systems were introduced in the market. Somehow, it is important to know the revolutionary concept of steam and vacuum cleaning. The level of hygiene in our homes and in other facilities was increased with the helped of steam cleaners. Steam has an incredible power to clean, disinfect and sanitize any kind of surface without using harmful chemicals. A house cleaned with steam is clearly noticeable from its appearance, smell and touch compared to a house that was traditionally cleaned.

Steam cleaning is indeed a remarkable technology for cleaning; however, professionals have understood that there were still margins of improvement. It is then they have started to develop steam and vacuum systems.

The Evolution and Advantages of Steam Vacuum Cleaner

Steam cleaner brush with cotton towel is what we generally use for steam cleaning floors. The function of the cotton towel is to collect the dirt melted by the steam. Apparently, cotton towel gets wet and full of dirt very quickly. Therefore, there is a need to replace the towel when it is full of dirt to prevent the risk re-depositing the dirt on the surface.

One concern that gave the professionals’ attention is how to secure the melted dirt and the killed germs that were all collected and deposited in a recovery tank (bucket). Another is the filtration system that can capture the dirt and micro-particles that may circulate back in the air, which may cause allergens.

Combining the function of wet and dry vacuum with the steam function was the ideal solution to solve this kind of gap and would actually be the next real challenge for the engineers. Considering that steam and vacuum machines are really high-tech machines that contain hydraulic, electronic, mechanic solutions, engineers must ensure that these elements should work together in order for a steam and vacuum cleaner give its best performance. Innovation of vacuum to a steam cleaner then took place and after many trials and errors made, a steam vacuum cleaner was introduced in the market.

How it works? Steam vacuum cleaner can steam and melt the dirt on the treated surfaces then vacuums the dirt water thus leaving the floors cleaned, sanitized and dried. This steam vacuum machine has a brush head with removable rubber blades. Its function is to wipe the dirt water remained on the floor, and the suction collects it into the bucket. This method of steam and vacuum if effective and ensures all dirt and killed germs will be collected leaving the treated surface completely cleaned, sanitized and disinfect.

Filtration System. One great advantage of steam vacuum cleaners is the innovated filtration system that allows them to terminate bacteria on surfaces and allergens in the air. Traditional paper bags filter lets the collected dirt remain inside the bag of the machine for days until the bag is full and user replace it with new one, thus increasing the proliferation of germs and bacteria that could possibly re-enter into the environment. But with filtration system, these filters are designed to absorb even the smallest particles and can extract as low as 0.3 microns dust particles thus making it much more effective than a traditional paper bags filter.

Carpet Cleaning Edinburgh

Carpet Cleaning Edinburgh

Carpets are an intrinsic part of home decor. Persian rugs and Chinese carpets have been molded into history since times immemorial. Sophisticated weaving patterns have given edge to the craftsmanship of such carpets. Antique rugs have been uniquely stylish too. Europe has picked up the sharper skills in the last couple of centuries or so. Carpets have been woven into the fabric of home decoration even here.

Great to look but difficult to maintain

Interestingly, a carpet is just as hard to maintain. Yes, it can be infinitely beautiful but at the same time, it is highly vulnerable to dust, slime and stains. All these can make it a rough bed of dirt and expedite fabric disintegration. Lets look at the chief reasons for carpet soiling.

Kids- they can be real troublemakers. Kids can come with soiled shoes and leave permanent imprints of dust in the area rugs. They are well advised to use external mats but more often than not, they do not use them. In such a condition, the soil that they bring settles firmly into the fabric of the carpet.

Pets- pets need to be taught and even still, they can be quite erratic. Pet stains chiefly comprise of soiling, urine stain and feces. The odors are often taken care of easily but the stains remain for a longer time. Also, the pets might be infested with fleas that make homes in their furry skin. Such fleas can be extremely harmful for the fabric of the carpet.

Dampness- water retention can virtually kill a carpet. It is for this reason that dampness is considered next to the worst.

Methods of tackling dirt and slime

There are various methods of easing out the stains and dust embedded in the carpet. Treatment depends upon the pH strength of the stain, the texture and extent of discoloration of the carpet and also the material of the rug. Fundamental methods, chemical substances, chemical treatments, technical instruments and a lot more are used for the purpose of cleaning carpets. Lets take a look at some of them.

Steam cleaning- the process uses steam over the stained carpet and then applies air at a high velocity. Dust that is bifurcated by the steam is forced to leave carpet surface once air is applied to it. It uses hot water extraction equipments.

Rotary cleaning- rotary cleaning deals with a whirlwind of shampoo that compels the residual dust to be warded off through a crackling sound.

Buffing- it is a process of rinsing and unrinsing performed successively. It is more like washing face.

Using air propeller- air propeller with hose is another violently method of treating stains.
Vaccum cleaning- this needs to be applied twice a month.

Acid and alkaline cleaning- depending upon the pH strength, formic acid, baking soda, vinegar and WD4 can be used.

Fundamental cleaning methods- these comprise usage of eucalyptus oil, butane, and propane tweezers.

www.refreshcarpetcleaning.co.uk is the site for Refresh Carpet Cleaning and the site provides amazing insight into the process of steam cleaning and various attributes of the company.

Children And House Cleaning Products

Most new parents become all too aware of their baby’s health and how vulnerable a little immune system is. The automatic reaction from most people is to try sterilising and boiling everything in sight in case a germ dares to attack their offspring. Children’s toys are cleaned thoroughly by dry cleaning. Surfaces are doused in vast amounts of cleaning product to ensure that every germ lingering in the kitchen is dead. High chairs are swabbed with more products. And to deal with the inevitable pong from nappies, out come the air fresheners.

And if a new parent hasn’t hired one before, the arrival of a new baby often is a good excuse to hire a professional <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push([‘_trackPageview’, ‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’]);” href=”http://www.carpetfirst.co.uk/london_domestic/house_cleaning_services_london.html” title=”House Cleaner”>house cleaner</a>. The need to protect babies from germs combined with the exhaustion of caring for a new baby is often the motivation.

But just wait a minute. If you get too obsessed with germs, you could actually be doing more harm than good. Most of those commercial cleaning products are poisonous – that’s why they kill germs. And once your baby gets mobile, he or she will put their hands on everything and put everything in their mouths, which means they’re getting this stuff into their systems. And let’s not even start on the hazards of having those cleaning products in the house – they all have to be stored out of reach in a high cupboard rather than being kept under the kitchen sink – the most common place to store cleaning chemicals.

If these chemicals get into their systems, it can cause developmental damage to the organs and various other systems. And even if small children don’t ingest the product you’ve used for cleaning the floor or cleaning the bathroom, an over-clean house can also be a problem, as it can lead to auto-immune problems. If a developing immune system doesn’t get a few bacteria to practice on, then it starts reacting to non-threats, leading to asthma and eczema and similar problems.

So what does a concerned parent to do in order to keep their home safe for their new baby?

* Use natural cleaning products. They are less toxic than <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push([‘_trackPageview’, ‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’]);” href=”http://www.tsdcleaning.co.uk/office_cleaning_london.html” title=”Commercial Cleaning”>commercial cleaning</a> products. Older children can use these products or even make them without any hassles.

* If you have to use a commercial cleaning product, then rinse after using them. Store it up high where smalls can’t get it.

* Don’t bother drycleaning soft toys. Drycleaning fluids are really nasty, and your little one will breathe them all in. If you have to clean a soft toy, do it by hand or just pop the toy in the machine – most modern soft toys can handle a trip through the tub.

* If you need to clean your carpets, book a <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push([‘_trackPageview’, ‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’]);” href=”http://www.anyclean.co.uk/steam_cleaning_london.html” title=”Steam Cleaning”>steam cleaning</a> or hire a professional carpet cleaner that uses chemical carpet shampoos. Regular vacuuming of carpets and sweeping of hard floors will get rid of the worst of the grub that might cause a problem for your child.

* Strengthen your child’s immune system. This is best done by a healthy diet. Breastfeeding is great for this and also means less cleaning work – no sterilising, measuring or scooping to be done, and breasts can’t be dropped onto the floor by accident mid-feed.

* Don’t panic. A happy, healthy child is reasonably resilient. As my sister-in-law said, you spend the first few months sterilising and boiling everything in sight, then as soon as they’re mobile, they’re in the garden eating slugs and coming to no harm.

But you can still hire that professional cleaner – busy new parents need all the help they can get.

Completely Random Cleaning Tips

* Having problems picking up leaves, twigs and other garden rubbish while cleaning the garden? Two semicircles or squares of flat metal held in the hands are ideal for picking up this sort of thing, and do an excellent job. Cut them out with tin snips from something that is due to go down to the recycling centre, or even take them off the side of something old and broken that’s about to go to the tip (e.g. a broken heater).

* Heavy furniture can often leave deep indentations on carpets. So can lighter pieces standing on castors or other narrow things that are in contact with the floor. To get these indentations out, get a steam iron and set it on high. Do NOT iron the carpet directly, but use the “steam shot” function (most steam irons have these) and shoot the indentation with the steam.  It should spring up again with all this steam.  Alternatively, get your carpets professionally cleaned with a <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview(‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” href=”http://www.anyclean.co.uk/carpet_cleaning_london.html” title=”Steam Cleaning”>steam cleaning</a> machine – this is one reason why your carpets feel so nice after a heavy-duty steam clean: the fibres have all plumped out and sprung up again.

* If your bath is really filthy (e.g. because you’ve just moved into a place where the previous occupant left hurriedly and didn’t do a proper tidying job before moving out), you can take a lot of the hard work out by filling the bath with warm (not hot) water and dissolving biological washing powder in the water. Let it stand overnight, then drain in the morning (use rubber gloves to remove the plug). Rinse out any residue. Most of the grub should have gone. If it hasn’t, help it on its way with a little baking soda.

* Silver can be cleaned with a paste of flour, baking soda and vinegar. Apply this paste to the silver and leave it to stand overnight.  Rinse off with boiling water. Great for the inside of silver teapots.

* If you have problems with pantyhose wrapping themselves around the washing line in a high wind, drop a marble down each leg – the weight in the toe will stop them flying all around the place.

* A paste of salt and water can be used to clean the inside of porcelain cups that have had one cup of tea too many, leaving a stain on the inside.

* White chalk removes grease stains from wallpaper – just “scribble” over the mark and the chalk will absorb the oils. Good for kitchens where grease is likely to spatter everywhere.

* Cold black tea – the ordinary sort – can be mixed with glycerine in the proportion of 1 T glycerine to 1 pint of tea to make a natural <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview(‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” href=”http://www.anyclean.co.uk/window_cleaning_london.html” title=”Window Cleaner”>window cleaner</a>.

* If you’re camping or picnicking and find that you’ve forgotten the dishwashing detergent, a frying pan can be cleaned using a very basic form of soap.  Don’t tip out any grease, but add a handful of ashes to the pan.  This will make a rudimentary soap that will clean out easily.  If you’re on or near the beach, then gently scouring everything with sand followed by rinsing in water will do the trick.

Washing Machines – Get Help in Cleaning Your Clothes

A washing machine is an appliance that is specifically meant for cleaning the clothes. These machines are required to clean the laundry that includes outfits, bed sheets, linen, table covers, towels etc. In these machines water is used as the integral solution for cleaning along with the detergents. These high end appliances are quite helpful in keeping the clothes clean. Washing clothes is a regular activity in our homes. It takes a lot of time and effort to clean dirty clothes with hands. You need to use the brush and soaps etc to remove the stains of dirt and mud from the clothes. However, these advanced appliances help you complete this tiresome task with great ease. You just need to soak the clothes in the washing compartment of the machine and add detergent, set the timer and the machine washes your clothes with great efficiency.

These appliances are generally available in two designs- front loading and top loading. In the top loading machines, the clothes are placed in a vertical tub in which water is stored. It has agitators which propel water. The clothes are completely suspended in water and the basket rotates during the wash cycle for the specified time. The front loading machines are most popular in the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe.

These machines have a simple structure in which the perforated basket is mounted to the water tub in a horizontal way. There is a glass door in front of the machine that is used to load the clothes into the machine. The clothes are agitated with the help of the back and forth motion of cylinders. There are paddles that lift up the clothes and then drop them. In this way the clothes are soaked and cleaned. Since there is lot of motion, enough foam is made in the machines to clean the clothes.

The modern consumer washing machines have advanced features like tumble wash, child lock, delayed execution, time elapsed & remaining time indication and steam wash etc. Apart from washing the clothes the modern machines also help in drying them. These machines have spin dry feature with which the clothes can be easily dried. Most machines have extremely efficient system for drying. The clothes are absolutely dried and can be worn just after ironing.

Potty Training Part 3 (Bells And Cleaning Up Messes)

POTTY TRAINING PART 3 (Bells and cleaning up messes)

This post will discuss how to clean up accidents, when they do occur, and how we train our dogs to use bells to tell us they have to go outside! Make sure that you clean any accidents quickly and thoroughly; if not, the dog may go back to the scent and use the same spot again and again. One of the most common mistakes is to use a cleaner with ammonia in it. Think about it…what is one of the main ingredients in urine? That’s right, ammonia. No wonder “Fido” keeps going back to the same spot in the back bedroom!

I have found two basic types of cleaners that people use. Liquid enzyme based cleaners and dry powder cleaners. Many of us have used enzyme based liquid cleaners at home and have been happy, until the cleaner dries and the smell and stain returns. Well, I found a product that for my money, works best. It is called Urine Out Powder and is produced by Planet Urine. On a trip to Branson, Missouri, I spotted the company, and being a trainer I had to stop and see what they were all about. To my surprise, I left purchasing “The Basic” kit and headed home to try it out. I tried it out on some older stains in our living room and to my astonishment; it not only cleaned the stain but the carpet in general. Needless to say, I ended up cleaning the entire room with the product. WOW!!! I will be the first one to tell you that most pet urine cleaners claim to be the “end all, be all” but I have never found one that works 100% of the time. Urine Out powder is the closest I have found! How and why does it work? Check out the following from Planet Urine’s website:

Any liquid based cleaning solution (including steam cleaning) doesn’t work because you will never be able to “blot” or wash all of that wet liquid enzyme mess out! Doesn’t that make sense? You still have stains and odors because they are deep down in the fibers, pores and fabrics!  Here’s what the experts have discovered…Liquid enzyme cleaners only mask the odors for a short time. However, the odors and stains come back. Again, it’s because you will NEVER be able to “blot” or wash all of the liquid cleaner and soiled mess completely out.
The ONLY way to completely clean the areas is to use a DRY POWDER cleaning process – a process that “sponges” it up and ABSORBS it, thereby removing the source of the stains and odors… PERMANENTLY!
Planet Urine’s Urine Out Powder Works!! It’s microscopic “sponges” are filled with a special pet stain and odor remover solution. You simply work the powder deep down into your carpet. You let the worked-in powder stand 30 minutes or more while it “sponges up” pet stains and odors. Then, you simply vacuum the urine laden dry powder out of your carpet. It’s that simple!  PET STAINS AND ODORS ARE GONE! PERMANENTLY!!!

Another tool that can be used is a pet deterrent for problem areas. These products are to be used once the area is cleaned to make the area less inviting for those pets who like to “return to the scene of the crime” for repeat performances. Planet Urine also carries a product called No P with a fresh Cinnamon scent that works quite well. While I don’t recommend this as your main tool it does help a lot with scent marking and problem dogs when getting started

Finally, how would you like a tool that helped Fido tell you when he has to go outside? How about giving your dog his or her own door bell they can ring to go outside? Welcome to bell training for your dog! With the right training, within weeks, your dog will be going to the back door and telling you he has to go outside; thus eliminating those frustrating accidents by the door when you are busy watching the game on TV.

The training is as easy as reading a Psych 101 book! Seriously, have you ever heard of a guy named Pavlov? He was the father of Classical Conditioning and showed us that certain things happen together and are related to each other. So when using bells, all we have to do is make the sound of the bells equal going outside! It is really that simple. Use your cue/command twice, once to get the dog to the door, and the second time when you’re outside, to get the business done. The difference is that once the dog is at the door, take their paw and ring the bell while saying your cue/command. You are on your way to having a bell trained dog. The big key to the training is to make sure you are consistent. Every time your dog goes outside, the bell must be rung so that the relationship between the bell and going outside is clear.

What if the dog will not ring the bell themselves? Cheat!!!! Smear some peanut butter on the bottom bell and wait.  Trust me, within minutes you will have the bell ringing and the dog going outside. Keep in mind from earlier posts on potty training, use a leash when the dog rings the bell as you get this process started. This will differentiate between going outside to play and going outside to do the business! When hanging the bells, keep the size of the dog in mind. The bells should be hung at nose height so ringing them is easier.

Natural methods are best for cleaning carpets

Natural products used for carpet cleaning are less likely to have a harmful impact on the environment, an expert has said.

Philip Malpass, director general of UKCPI, an organisation representing UK producers of cleaning, hygiene and surface care products, said using less raw materials for cleaning products lowers energy consumption.

He explained that washing at lower temperatures, getting things clean the first time round and not using more product than necessary are also good ways of promoting sustainability.

“It must be remembered that a central key to sustainability of the whole cleaning life cycle is performance,” Mr Malpass said.

“Product performance affects how people use products and, crucially, how much of a product people use in order to avoid compromising on results.”

He pointed out that over the last ten years the recommended dosage of laundry powders has reduced substantially – from 150 or more grams down to 100 grams and now to 85 grams or less.

According to the Wash Right Initiative, washing at a constant temperature of 40 degrees C or lower can cut energy bills by up to 50 per cent.
