Miniature Steam Engines at Amberley 2007

A variety of miniature road steam engines at Amberley Miniature Steam & Model Weekend 23rd September 2007. There are about 35 different engines featured in the parade. Youtube’s limits prevents me showing the 70+ engines that attend each year. The main part of the video shows the grand parade of steam engines. The engines shown are scale replicas made by model engineers in recent times. They are based on steam engines that would have been common 100 years ago. Most are 4″ scale which are 1/3 full size (4 inches to the foot). The event commentary gives brief details of each engine.

CLASSIC BRITISH STEAM ENGINES

It’s time to stoke the engine and hop on board as we journey around Britain to relive a bygone era of steam travel. We begin at the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway as lovingly restored engines are put through their paces, before moving on down the line to the Severn Valley Railway. Other stops and attractions include the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, the Doncaster Steam And Speed Weekend and an in-depth look at 75029 Standard Class 4 Tank Engine and GWR 7812 Erlestoke Manor, one of the nine surviving members of the 7800 “Manor Class”. Available to buy from: www.amazon.co.uk

What is important about steam engines?

Okay, so for socials I need to write why having steam engines/locomotives was so important in the 1700-1890ish (for ex. people could go places faster and with more comfort).
If you have any ideas, please share :) Thanks SO MUCH!
