The Union Pacific FEF (four eight four) is easily one of the most recognizable us steam prototypes still in operation today. The FEF-3 series of steam locomotives was delivered in 1944 and were the last, and some of the largest, steam locomotives used by the Union Pacific. NH&I – January 2007 Photo Freight


Carl Franz returns to the New Hope & Ivyland for a second photo freight since the first one in January 2006. Although there was no snow, and little sun, that didn’t stop the NH&I crews from putting on a superb show. Enjoy the sights and sounds of steam hauling freight, just as they once did.

Steam View – Eritrea 18 – First Freight for 38 years


With views over the port of Massawa, Mallet locomotive 442-54 pulls the 2 container train away from the dockyard, forming the first real freight train in Eritrea for 38 years, 3/12/2010. The containers were carrying machine tools donated by the Danish State Railways for use in the Eritrean Railways workshop at Asmara.

Freight on the GCR Sat 28 Jan 2012.wmv


This video is a compilation of demonstration freight working during the day, with both mixed goods and mineral (windcutter) trains being hauled by various locomotives. The order in which the engines appear are: – 8K class 2-8-0 No.63601; 3F class ‘Jinty’ 0-6-0T No.47406; 8F class 2-8-0 No.8624 all seen at Quorn then N2 class 0-6-2T No.1744 at Loughborough. A change of location to Rothley, where from the cutting we see again 8F 8624, 8K 63601 & 3F 47406 followed by Drummond M7 class 0-4-4T No.53; King Arthur class 4-6-0 No.30777 “Sir Lamiel”. Then returning to Quorn with first a view from the road bridge of BR Standard class 2 2-6-0 No.78019, then from the embankment opposite the station the final shot of the ‘Jinty’ 0-6-0T again.

Strasburg Railroad: STEAM, FREIGHT, and AMTRAK Action in Amish Country!

You’ll see 4-8-0 #475 on the Strasburg’s passenger trains. We’ll then take you along the Amtrak mainline to view high speed passenger action! Witness a treat as well, when Strasburg’s SW-8 #8618 hauls 4 cars out to the interchange at Leaman Place. A meet between the excursion train and the SW-8 will occur at Groff’s Grove when the 8618 heads back lite to Strasburg. We hope you enjoy this compilation from a day in the Amish Country!
