The last steam loco built in China – SY 1772
SY class locomotive no. 1772 was the last steam engine to be built in China in 1999. It is seen here on an early morning passenger service near Teifa, filmed on 17th October 2005 during a Railway Touring Company trip to China.

This UK PAL DVD is available from www.svsfilm.com The 30939archives Silent Cine Series features restored cine film footage and colour slides from the 1960′s. LAST MONTHS OF BRITISH RAILWAYS STEAM From May to August 1968 Dick Franklin and Bob Bridger made a number of visits to the North West of England. They wanted to capture with their cine cameras, the final months of standard gauge regular service steam on British Railways. A variety of classes were working, Black 5, 8F, 9F, 73xxx and 75xxx plus Britannia 70013 on rail tours. During this period of 1968 there were a flurry of rail tours. This DVD includes film of trips run by the Locomotive Club of Great Britain, Roch Valley Railway Society, Manchester Rail Travel Society and Severn Valley Railway Society. Also included are visits to the last loco sheds to use steam Rose Grove, Lostock Hall and Carnforth. When steam ended in August 1968 it marked the end of a significant era in the history of the railways of Britain.
