Santa Fe 3751 Climbing The Harcuvar Mountains 5-15-12

5 1/2 HOURS! That’s how long I sat here staking-out my spot to catch the 3751 climbing the grade over the Harcuvar Mts. Not knowing the schedule of the train and that it had been restricted in speed over the A&C, I decided that I wouldn’t take my chances with trying to make it to Parker and decided to catch it where I knew the engine would be working hard and loud. Arriving just before 8am, I figured I’d have maybe an hour to an hour and a half wait. Ha!…Anyway, at 1:30pm when she finally showed up, I ended up getting a shot that was not too bad. If only the wind had died down for just 5 minutes and the diesels been throttled down 2 or 3 notches and had I not put my fingers in front of the lens while trying to shelter the camera from the wind, then it would’ve been nearly perfect.
