Essex Valley Railroad: Steam Engine #97 In The Station Area With Santa Special Train


It’s December 28th, and the Essex, Connecticut Valley Railroad’s last day of operations in 2008. Watch as #97, a 2-8-0 Consolidation Steam Locomotive runs around her second to last Santa Special of the Winter and operating season of 2008. You will see views of the beautiful locomotive, and, as usual, we will take you into 97′s cab and sit in the engineer’s seat and stand on the cab deck. So watch and enjoy as Consolidation #97 does what she does best and gets ready to pull her last Santa Special and train of the operating season, on her last day until a 4-5 month long Winter’s nap in the engine house.

HD: Conway Scenic Railroad Steam in the Snow 2012


On January 7, 2012, the Mass Bay Rail Enthusiasts chartered a photographers’ special on the Conway Scenic Railroad from North Conway to Notchland and return featuring ex Canadian National 0-6-0 #7470. Titled “Steam in the Snow”, the event featured runbys at various locations on the eastbound return featuring Notchland, Cobb Farm Road, Bartlett, Woodland Pines, and North Conway. Departing at 1030hrs, ex MEC GP7 #573 lead the train west to Notchland where it was cut off and returned light engine following the extra which was then being lead by the 7470. We catch both west and eastbound trains at various locations begining with 7470 emerging from the roundhouse at North Conway and ending with the runby at Woodland Pines. Strasburg Railroad: STEAM, FREIGHT, and AMTRAK Action in Amish Country!

You’ll see 4-8-0 #475 on the Strasburg’s passenger trains. We’ll then take you along the Amtrak mainline to view high speed passenger action! Witness a treat as well, when Strasburg’s SW-8 #8618 hauls 4 cars out to the interchange at Leaman Place. A meet between the excursion train and the SW-8 will occur at Groff’s Grove when the 8618 heads back lite to Strasburg. We hope you enjoy this compilation from a day in the Amish Country!
