welsh highland railway 87 &143 beddgelert – rhyd dhu
This railway is no ‘Great little train of Wales’ it’s TOOO BIG for that tag! Beside the fact that it runs through some of the most stunning scenery in the principality, where else in the UK can you savour steam working this hard? Regulator in the roof stuff for 20mins and this is only half of the climb!!! This is one of the ‘must do’ railway journeys in the World, I cannot recommend it highly enough.GREAT Railway.

43rd Anniversary since the end of BR Steam – Keighley & Worth Valley Railway
Sunday the 4th August 1968 saw the final steam engine work under BR on the UK rail network. Thursday the 4th August 2011 marked the 43rd Anniversary of the occasion and to celebrate the occasion one of the final working steam engines hauled passenger services once again on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. ‘Black 5′ No.45212 now based on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway is one of the final steam engines that worked on the UK rail network on the 4th August 1968. The engine was on duty at Preston Station on station pilot duties. Now 43 years on the engine is still doing what it does best… hauling passenger services. The ‘Black 5′ is back on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway after recently returning from the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and will continue to work passenger services on the KWVR until October when it’s boiler ticket expires. Steam services now run daily until the 11th September, check our website for more details: www.kwvr.co.uk
