Vintage Steamship Virginia V

The vintage Steamship Virginia V is the only steam powered, wooden hulled, propellor driven vessel of her kind west of the Atlantic seaboard. The Virginia V is the last steam powered remnant of the once bustling “Mosquito Fleet” on Puget Sound, the name for the hundreds of privately operated steam vessels that connected communities of Puget Sound before the advent of our modern road system. The Virginia V was built in 1922 near Olalla, WA, but her steam plant, removed from the Virginia IV was made in 1897. Recorded in 2008 by North Woods Productions. www.northwoodsproductions.com
